Establishment details:
The Laboratory of Electronic Materials and Nanoelectronic Devices of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) was founded in 1981 as the Laboratory of Electrotechnics. It was renamed to the Laboratory of Electronic Materials and Nanoelectronic Devices under Government Gazette 582/B/23‑04‑2007.

Laboratory Facilities
The Laboratory is housed in the Old Building of the School, in rooms 1.1.12A, 1.1.12B, and 1.1.28 on the 1st floor, and room 3.1.1B on the 3rd floor.
Laboratory Activities
The Laboratory of Electronic Materials and Nanoelectronic Devices of the ECE School is one of the core materials laboratories of NTUA.
Its scope includes the design, development, and characterization of electronic materials, micro‑ and nano‑structured electronic materials, as well as devices used in microelectronics, nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, and sensors.
More specifically, the laboratory is active in the following areas:
(a) Development of nanostructured materials such as porous Si, porous alumina, carbon nanowires, Si and ZnO nanowires for microelectronics and sensor applications
(b) Development of conductive and dielectric materials for printed circuits, compatible with biosensors for medical applications
(c) Electrical and optical characterization of electronic materials and devices
(d) Design and development of energy‑harvesting devices compatible with Si technology, such as thermoelectric generators and photovoltaics
(e) Design and development of micro‑scale energy‑storage devices compatible with Si technology, such as micro‑supercapacitors and micro‑batteries
(f) Design and development of micro‑sensors, such as magnetic sensors, photodetectors, and medical biosensors
In addition to research activities, the Laboratory also supports the School’s educational mission through diploma theses, postgraduate theses, and doctoral dissertations.
