Aggelos Tsakanikas is Associate Professor of Economic Evaluation of Systems of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Director at the Laboratory of Industrial and Energy Economics (LIEE) and Scientific Responsible of the Entrepreneurship Observatory of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (FEIR/IOBE). He has participated in major European research projects in the broader area of innovation studies, socio-economic research and information society. Since May 2004 he has worked at IOBE in various positions and was Director of Research from April 2012 to January 2014. His research interests are related to technology and business strategy, the economics of innovation, and entrepreneurship and related policies. He has been involved in numerous research projects on the Greek economy and selected sectors, entrepreneurship and competitiveness, human capital, information society and relevant policies. He leads the Greek research team participating in the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), as well as the team participating in the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook. He has served as Vice Chairman of the Industrial Property Organization (OBI) and member of the Board of the Hellenic Industrial Property organization and has recently been appointed member of the Sectorial Scientific Council (TES) for Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property at the National Council for Research, Technology and Innovation.
