Science Agora: A new technology transfer hub

The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) together with four leading academic and research institutions in Greece, the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS), Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), National Center for Scientific Research (NCSR) “Demokritos” and Research Center “Athena” are pleased to announce the establishment of the Technology Transfer Hub “Science Agora- Innovation to Society”.

NTUA-ICCS-AUEB-DEMOKRITOS-ATHENA are joining forces through a strategic collaboration to enhance the exploitation of the research results for the benefit of the society.

The aim of Science Agora is the development of a lasting collaboration among the five centers for transferring innovative research results and specialized know-how to the market. They potential is great and it derives from their research teams’ participation in numerous R&D projects at European level.

The leading scientific organizations recognized the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to the development of integrated and sustainable solutions that address current societal challenges and additionally the need for significant economy of scale with this new HUB.

A press conference was held on the 30/3/2022 with the participation of Prof. Andreas G. Boudouvis, Rector of NTUA, Georgios Nounesis, Director & Chairman of the Board of “Demokritos”, Prof. Dimitris Bourantonis, Rector of AUEB, Prof. Ioannis Psarras, Director of ICCS and Prof. Ioannis Emiris, General Director & President of “Athena”.

The Rector of NTUA, Professor Andreas Boudouvis pointed out:

“The five institutions represent a very strong research core in the country. Their partnership promotes their research activity towards the market and enterprises, and gives way to opportunities for the development of new spin-offs and business teams with complementary knowledge. Exploiting the potential of young researchers is a top priority and requires an essential link of engineering education with entrepreneurship and innovation.”
